E.J. De la Pena – Creator
E.J. De la Pena is an American Filmmaker and CEO of entertainment production company, Cowboy Errant. E.J. was one of the youngest members of SAG (Screen Actors Guild) at the age of 4, and has worked with various legends of film, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, George Clooney, Walter Koenig, and Julia Roberts. E.J. is Creator and Executive Producer for multiple film and television projects, including Nobility:The Series, which premiered at Stan Lee’s Comikaze. An avid humanitarian, E.J. uses his projects to motivate and support philanthropic efforts in the sectors of medical research, green technology, and education.
Neil Johnson – Director
Neil Johnson is a British film and music video producer, director, and editor best known for his long association with heavy metal band Manowar and for directing and writing sci-fi films. While not well known in the public sphere, he is regarded by experts as a pioneer in digital filmmaking. Neil has produced over 500+ music videos (Manowar, U2, Rhapsody of Fire) and has released 10 different Sci-Fi movies with 3 more in post-production at this time.
Neil brings a wealth of experience to “Nobility”, especially with his most recent film “Starship: Rising“. We look forward to all his insights to help make “Nobility” the best series in 2014!
“Tiki” Al Zequeira – Art Director
“Tiki” Al Zequeira is a 30+ year veteran of the entertainment industry. Starting out as a sci-fi fan creating his own props for cosplay at conventions, Al quickly began making props and sets for local film production companies in his home state of Florida. Eventually, he moved to San Francisco in pursuit of his dream of becoming a science fiction art director.
By the mid 1990’s Al found himself in L.A. working on several of the successors to one of his favorite shows, “Star Trek”. After his time creating props for “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and “Star Trek: Voyager”, Al continued to work on some of the most well known sci-fi films and series including “Star Wars: Phantom Menace”, “Serenity”, “Chronicles of Riddick”, and more.
In mid 2007 Al moved to Shanghai, China, where he made a name for himself as a respected art director on several shows including the children’s show Oyeeoh featuring a world entirely made up of miniature sets and figurines. A daunting challenge, Al’s work on Oyeeoh further proved the level of skill and detail he brings to any project.
Now back in the United States, Al is a crucial member of the “Nobility” team. “Tiki”, as many of the cast and crew call him, is excited to be working on such an unique show with such an incredible cast and crew.
Mike Philpot – Costume Designer
A graduate of the Parsons School of Design in New York, Mike Philpot is a brilliant costume designer who has worked on many high profile feature films such as “Spider-Man 3”, “The Spirit”, and “Man of Steel”.
Starting as a head designer for several clothing companies, an ambitious Mike Philpot moved to Los Angeles to open his own clothing company, BON-TON Clothing Co., a contemporary boutique in West Hollywood. After discovering the love of his life, Val, he started yet another business creating ladies sportswear and dresses.
After falling in love with the creativity of the entertainment industry, Mike transitioned into designing costumes for film and T.V. After working on dozens of independent and studio productions, Mike is excited to be working on “Nobility” with its incredible amalgam of high-powered cast and incredible creative team.
Charles-Henri Avelange – Composer
Charles-Henri was born and raised in the French Riviera, France, where he grew up influenced by the Cannes Film Festival. He graduated from the ESRA, one of the top film schools in France. He moved to the United States, Seattle, in 2005. In Washington State, he is known for his first symphony, “The Age of Heroes”, composed in honor of the Fire Fighters in America and the servicemen and women in Iraq. He is also known as the composer of the Seattle International Film Festival Opening Night, for which he created The SIFF Orchestra – a 60-piece orchestra.
Avelange has scored many projects for film and television, among them the primetime TV specials, “Hallmark: Jingle All the Way” and “Jingle & Bell’s Christmas Star”. He scored the thriller feature film, “Shadowed”, which was an official selection at the Seattle International Film Festival. Charles-Henri moved with his wife to Los Angeles, CA, in January, 2013. Since then his work can be heard on many national TV commercials. In addition to “Nobility”, he will soon score four to be announced feature films in the sci-fi and thriller genres.
Visual effects guru Tobias Richter studied computer science at the Technical University in Darmstadt, Germany, where he graduated in 1992. Being a sci-fi fan since the days of the classic “Star Trek” series, he was soon fascinated with the possibilities of 3D animation and the creation of virtual worlds. During his studies, he worked freelance for various computer games and television productions like “Hurra Deutschland”, the German version of “Spitting Image”. He then moved to Cologne where he continued his freelance work in the visual effects departments of several studios before founding his own company, The Light Works in 1995.
The Light Works – Headed by the talented Tobias Richter, The Light Works is a prolific provider of visual effects for the sci-fi world. Based in Germany, The Light Works has provided visual effects for “Ray Bradbury’s Kaleidoscope” and “Star Trek: Phase 2″ in addition to the spectacular visuals seen in “Nobility”.
Baron Thomas Von Buettner
After serving in the German Special Forces, Baron Thomas Von Buettner joined the French Foreign Legion and was wounded as part of the search to find Serbian President Milosevic during the Serbian crisis in the early 90’s.
Once he recovered from his wounds, his life took a different direction. After graduating from Franklin University with a degree in Interactive Media Design, Thomas started working with industry professionals like Albert Lannutti (“Fright Night”).
Thomas has worked on a wide range of projects doing both practical and visual effects including music videos for Selena Gomez, Rihanna, and Ice Cube. After working on various commercials, Thomas moved on to work on projects such as J.J. Abram’s “Super 8” and the hit television show, “Heroes”.
All of this has been in addition to his work with the U.S. and European armed forces creating practical and visual effects for training videos and real-life training exercises.
Born and raised in St Albans, Hertfordshire in the UK. Currently in the 5th year of freelancing fulltime as a web and graphic designer and has created FireCraka as an outlet for his services. With projects ranging from Album and Book cover art, to full on Websites for clients in the reggae music industry. The Nobility project is a natural next step for him.
Thorsten was born and raised in Hamburg, Germany. He had his first contact with 3D graphics in the late 80’s with an Atari ST. Later, in the mid 90’s, he worked with a 3D program called “Monzoom” before switching to Cinema 4D. Nobility is not the first movie project he’s worked on. In the beginning of the new century, he worked on a film called “LAZERTA”, for which he created models.
Ali Ries is a 3D digital artist from Salem, Oregon. Coming of age in the NASA era of Gemini and Apollo anchored her artist roots in space. When Star Trek premiered on network television, her future was paved with dreams of some future in the world of sci-fi and fantasy art or special effects.
With the proliferation of 3D Art software, Ali found a way to express her galactic imagination. With the equivalent of a mental Hubble platform, Ali began creating astronomical star scapes, nebulae and other space scenes as real as the night sky. Today her work is used on book covers, television projects and other media around the world, including the recent SyFy network project, “BSG: Blood and Chrome”, “Riddick 3”, and “Star Trek” Fandom movies.
